Food and Drink in the Netherlands

Food and Drink in the Netherlands

Traditional Dutch cuisine is fairly simple and the few dishes described as "typically Dutch" are seldom also described as "elaborate" or "sophisticated". The main ingredient in a traditional Dutch meal is potatoes (aardappel), usually accompanied by meat and boiled vegetables. Dairy products are also very common.

The Netherlands now has an internationally oriented cuisine with the ingredients for (and restaurants serving) foods originating from Africa, France, Italy, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, America and the Far East. In the big cities, some very good Thai food restaurants (in Amsterdam on the "Nieuwmarkt" for example) can be found, as well as good authentic Chinese food in the Chinese quarters.
After World War II Indonesia became independent and many Indonesian Dutch people returned (or moved) to the Netherlands bringing the spicy cuisine with its exotic ingredients.

Dry Skin: Lotion Or Cream?

Dry Skin: Lotion Or Cream?

Combination dry skin can require some knowledge of when to use a dry skin lotion or when to go for a cream. Lotions, typically, are for areas of the body that have some oily patches along with dry skin. In order not to clog the pores of the skin with more sebaceous glands, some people opt for a lotion instead of a cream. The face is one such area where people like lotions if they have an oily T-zone and dry patches elsewhere. However, on areas that have strictly dry skin, like the hands, elbows, or arms, then you might want to go with a heavier cream. There is little risk of irritating sebaceous glands on your hands, as there are few located there.
The actual difference between most lotions and cream is the oil to water ratio. If there is more oil than water, you have a cream. If you have more water than oil, you have a lotion. Unfortunately, one has to look at the ingredients on the label of any dry skin lotion or cream to understand whether it really is good for dry skin or not. Some manufacturers add alcohol to their lotions and this is actually a drying agent and should be avoided.

The traditional style of marriage is followed, it is being totally refurbished

The traditional style of marriage is followed, it is being totally refurbished

The traditional style of marriage is followed, it is being totally refurbished. The traditional colors of the wedding dresses of red and pink are being replaced by peach, wine and burgundy. Colors and fabrics that blend with the skin are given more importance. Stiff silks in wedding dresses are being substituted by fabrics like crepe, satin and chiffon.
The ghaghra choli and Lehnga are more commonly used as wedding dresses. The ghaghra is a long skirt and the choli is a short blouse that leaves the naval open. There is a long fabric, rectangular in shape that is tucked in the right hand side of the skirt so that it falls from the right shoulder to cover the choli and to give a pleasant look.
The way of dressing, the food habits, language, differs from place to place. There is also variety in the way Pakistani marriages are celebrated. Amongst the common wedding dresses worn in Pakistan is the Ghagra Choli or Lehnga.
Pure gold and wiring is used for those who can afford an extremely expensive Pakistani wedding dress. Otherwise there is gold and silver washed wires. Irrespective, a Pakistani wedding dresses invaluable at any budget, still looking as beautiful as the most expensive one. Apart from the Ghagra Choli the sari is the most popular wedding outfit worn in its variable forms depending on the region. No matter what a Pakistani bride wears, she does look like a living doll, decorated on her special day.
